  • Sur les traces de Marguerite Yourcenar

“People age as they are.” If this quote from the writer rings true in daily life, there is no doubt that the roads we travel shape who we are. Marguerite Yourcenar (1903-1987), first woman named to the Académie française in 1980, author of Memoirs of Hadrian and The Abyss is the embodiment of erudition from another era. Like a road movie, the film takes viewers along the paths travelled by Yourcenar, so they can see the landscapes she saw and discover the places that left their mark on her. By evoking the past to recreate her world – in Europe, North America, Egypt and India – this film conveys her impressions, enhanced by the accounts of those who knew her.

The Gallimard bookstore sells many of Yourcenar’s books. You can buy them online here.
