This week at Cinéma Excentris!

The end of the world has never looked so good, and neither have we!

Lars Von Trier’s sumptuously gorgeous and operatic Melancholia starts playing.

A tasteful and composed take on doomsday, the devastatingly beautiful Melancholia is being hailed as Trier’s best work yet. Beautiful, yes, but at the end of the film, make no mistake, everybody dies. And no ending could be more final because in the world evoked by the Danish filmmaker, we are absolutely alone in the universe. As Trier himself remarks-with a black humour well-suited him-"In a way, the film does have a happy ending.”

Melancholia is preceded by the short film Hope by Pedro Pires.
